Problem Note 61663: Formats are not displayed when you use the ODS Report Writing Interface with the ODS destination for Excel
Beginning with the SAS® 9.4M5 (TS1M5) maintenance release, passing a custom Excel format using the FORMAT argument is currently ignored when you use the ODS Report Writing Interface with the ODS destination for Excel. The Report Writing Interface does not support the use of SAS formats that dynamically build the comparable Excel formats, which is supported by SAS procedures.
Instead, the TAGATTR= attribute should be used to pass Excel formats when you use the Report Writing Interface and the ODS destination for Excel.
To ensure that your custom Excel format is used with the ODS destination for Excel, use code that is similar to the following:
ods excel file="c:\temp\test.xlsx";
data _null_;
declare odsout obj();
obj.table_start();
obj.row_start();
obj.format_cell(data:"1234",style_attr:"tagattr='format:####.0' width=1in");
obj.row_end();
obj.table_end();
run;
ods excel close;
